Art in Kayenta Festival,
October 10, 11 & 12, 2014
Set against the dramatic panorama of Red Mountain, the Art in Kayenta festival celebrates its 15th year with wonderful art, free admission, great entertainment, a silent auction, a Quick Draw & Live Auction, yummy food and fun!
It's the same festival, in the same beautiful Kayenta red rock location, with new October dates. In 2013 we bid the unpredictable February weather (avg. high 59 degrees) a fond farewell and moved the event to coincide with the Huntsman Senior Games and our fabulous October weather (avg. high 78 degrees).
More than 60 juried artists representing ceramics, wood, painting, photography, jewelry and textiles will be showcasing their crafts in booths throughout the three day event.
A Quick Draw event will take place Saturday afternoon where professional artists will exhibit their skills and personal creative process under the pressure of a 90 minute window to produce original works of art. Beginning with a blank canvas at 2 p.m., artists will paint shoulder-to-shoulder in a roped-off, tented area as spectators circle, cheer, photograph and witness the artistic process unfold. The finished pieces will be sold at a live auction at 4 p.m.
Additionally, a Silent Auction with many pieces of artwork will take place during the festival and will be on display in the Coyote Gulch Art Village. Closing of bids and the announcement of winners will take place Sunday afternoon.
During the three days, live entertainment will be featured on the festival stage and throughout the Coyote Gulch Art Village, and food vendors will provide refreshments to nourish hungry souls.
