We're all guilty of it - being destracted, being so single-minded or serious that we miss something small yet meaningful.
I like those subtle reminders in an ordinary day that show us how to be more grateful, moments that prompt us to be involved in meaningful tasks or that cause us to realize once again that our very existence is ephemeral. These occasions are not negligible, but immense. Our consciousness addresses the sameness in our lives and replaces it with diversity, analysis and, hopefully, action by the sheerness of adjusting an attitude.
My art has that affect -- it "adjusts attitudes" with smiles, contemplation, a sense of wonder or subtle humor.
And I am grateful...
