Gourds first came into my life in 1993 at the Park City Arts Festival. I bought a small one that had been wood burned and painted and knew I wanted to know more about gourds. The idea that I could take seeds and grow hundreds of different varieties of gourds and then do artwork on them has turned into a passion or maybe an obsession.
Most of the work I do has a flavor of the Southwest but I also like to do pieces that would fit in anyone's home. I love to try different mediums and embellishments. Each piece is an original partly because there is no way to make two gourds look exactly the same.
I am very fortunate that my husband is very supportive of what I do. Without his help in the garden, I'd be in trouble. He helps me in so many ways so I can pursue my passion for gourds.
