As a young person growing up in Utah, my family spent a lot of time camping, hiking and exploring the state. I grew to love the variety and beauty that it held, however I was most fascinated by southern Utah. The colors, rocks, sand, vegetation, animals, and even the smell of the desert, it made a great impression on me.

Born number 3 or 7 children, I was always the quiet one who seemed to be in my own little world and always had a way of seeing things a little different. It was my grandmother who first taught me to paint. I was still very young but found an interest in it. With age however came other responsibilities and interests, until about 10 years ago when I decided to enroll in some art classes at Dixie College where I once again found that same excitement for painting.

I paint with both oils and watercolors. I find some subject matter lends itself to the heavy bold colors of oils while others lend to a softer feel that watercolors offer. I paint a lot of southwest subject matter simply because its what surrounds me. It has become a part of me and I a part of it.

Over the years I have been a part of many art shows, local, regional and national, where I have been recognized with many awards and purchases. I am grateful for all those who have helped and encouraged me to continue on, teachers, fellow artists and friends.

I am grateful for the public who has taken an interest in my talents and take the time to support me. It’s a great joy to me to know someone has taken a part of me into their lives.
