I am I, and I was given a gift by the Creator to make beautiful things. I grew up in the Mojave Desert area in the mountains along the Colorado River. I now live in the Vermillion Cliffs area of Southern Utah, near the Grand Canyon: I call this home, the place where the wind knows my name. My mother is Taos Indian, my father, Scot/American. I am 52 and have been carving in stone for 32 years. I enjoy the challenge of having one chance with stone. I taught myself to carve, better said, stone taught me to carve, and ancient craft; else, it may never have been revealed to me, the understanding of the eons it took to sculpt our hands. When I couldn’t find metal smiths to set my carving in jewelry, I taught myself to work in gold, silver and platinum.

I am asked often “Where do you get your ideas?” I don’t know, I only listen and they come. I find in moments wondering, ‘how did I know how to do that?” at these times I thank the generations past that brought me to this time and place. As an artist, on of the greatest pleasures, is the knowing that a piece of my art brings a smile to someone, in the act of passing it on a little joy has been created.

Some of the more well known persons that have a piece of my art are:
Rosalie Little Thunder
Orville Looking Horse
Bennjamin Pikyavit
Clyde Bellecourt
Jennifer Easton
Ted Turner
Jane Fonda
Robert Redford
Denzel Washington
Glen Campbell
Sally Fields
Tanya Tucker
